Seeking the Waiting

Luke 2:36-38 | Psalm 27:4

Anna is different from all the characters in the nativity. She doesn’t learn of Jesus’ birth through angels or stars. She happens to overhear Simeon’s prophecy while she is working in the temple. But this isn’t accidental because Anna was always in the temple. Verse 37 says she served God night and day. Even though she was a widow at a young age, she never remarried, moved in with family, or had a career. She wanted more than anything to be in the presence of God every moment. So she moved to where He was and spent her life working in the temple.

God rewards Anna by guiding her to the exact moment of Joseph and Mary’s arrival and Simeon’s prophecy. She saw the Christ child in person! Not because of a supernatural revelation, but because she was already there serving, loving, and living in the presence of God.

O what blessings the Father has in store for those who wait and live in His presence.
