Seeking Us All
Genesis 3:9-15
The interesting part of this story is that God knew all along where Adam and Eve were hiding. He is God, remember. The question of “where are you” was not for God to discover them but for Adam and Eve to discover themselves.
In answering that question, Adam and Eve had to realize they had sinned. They had disobeyed God. They were afraid. They lost their innocence. They lost their position. They were now on the outside looking in when it came to God. They were lost just like the little lamb who went astray from the Shepherd. They needed a Savior. They needed a Shepherd that would come seeking for them and restore.
In reality, this is the true meaning of Christmas. It is more than just a story. It is the fact that Christ came to “seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). Christmas is all about Christ coming to seek and to restore us all.
