Seeking to Save
Luke 2:21-35
What happens when a seeking God finds a seeking man? Simeon was such a man. Scripture tells us that God revealed to Simeon that he would not die until he saw the Messiah. At the circumcision of Jesus, Simeon arrives. As he gazed into the eyes of baby Jesus, he spoke these words, “Lord, you can let me die in peace. I have seen your Messiah.”
God loves it when mankind seeks after him. When we seek after God and He seeks after us, we will find Him in a fresh and living way. The adage is so true, “Wise men still seek Him.”
God is seeking us all. He is seeking the rebellious to redeem and restore. He is seeking to reveal Himself even to the ordinary. He is seeking to call to service the fearful, hopeless, and helpless. Hallelujah, He is seeking those who are waiting for Him.
God seeking and man seeking is the culmination of the message of Christmas. To those who search for God, he promises, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled” (Matt. 5:6). Christmas is all about seeking and being found. It is all about searching and being filled. When we find Him, we shall proclaim, “I have seen the Salvation from God!”
This Christmas, are you found? Can you say with the Psalmist, “As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness” (Psalm 17:15)? Christmas is a time to be found! Have you been found?
