Among the Faithful

Luke 2:22-38 | 2 Peter 3:9

“Just be patient” is hard to hear, especially when it involves something for which you’ve waited a long time. It’s not always easy to wait. We like to quickly receive answers to our questions and problems. Imagine Simeon and Anna as they waited their whole life to see the promised Messiah before their faith finally became sight.

The Hebrew writer says that faith is confidence in things that are divinely guaranteed. While it may seem that the Lord isn’t moving as quickly as we would like, His guarantee isn’t any less true. As we wait, let us be faithful knowing He cannot tell a lie. Let us rejoice knowing that what we perceive as slowness is meant as kindness, since He desires that none “should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9, Romans 2:4).
