Tempted Among Us

Luke 4:1-13 | Hebrews 4:14-16

Exhausted and hungry from His forty days of temptation, Jesus exited the wilderness to face Satan again. The physical temptation was real for He was hungry. The emotional appeal was real, as Satan questioned His Deity challenging Him to prove it. The spiritual temptation was strong for the cross loomed ahead. Was there an easier way?

Throughout His ministry, as a man He faced real temptations. Scripture tells us that He “was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” He dwelt among us, was born in poverty, walked the dusty roads, faced the daily traps set for Him yet He overcame! While in the garden, Jesus again conquered temptation and accepted the cross (Mark 14:32-35). Our Emmanuel now dwells with us and in us. Filled with His Spirit, clothed in His love, supplied with His grace and having a standing invitation to come boldly into His Presence, we too can overcome!
