Since the day Adam sinned, there could never be enough sacrifices to satisfy the God we rebelled against. Priests continually offered up sin offerings, but, there would never be an offering powerful enough to end the sinning cycle.
Jesus, perfect and sinless, freely gave up His own body as a sacrifice. (Heb 7:26-27) He became the all sufficient and final sacrifice (appeasing God’s wrath forever) giving us a life free of sin. Through His one sacrifice, we all may become righteous.
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
